Meet a Graduate!
This Thursday we celebrate our 2012-2013 YouthBuild graduates: Alex Murillo, Eric Matias, Juan Capristo, Brandon Rosales, and Dakota Macias--and we are so proud of each of them! To give you a glimpse into one young man's experience at Cloud & Fire, we interviewed Alex about what YouthBuild has meant to him and where his path goes from here.
Cloud & Fire Ministries (CFM): How long where you in YouthBuild?
Alex: A year and a half.
CFM: What is a favorite memory from your time at Cloud & Fire?
Alex: Bonding with the teachers and students. Also, going on a mission trip to Haiti.
CFM: What is a lesson that you learned while at Cloud & fire?
Alex: How to be a leader. At the construction site, I was placed in a leadership position where I oversaw other students. At first it was hard, but then it got easier and I really learned how to be a leader.
CFM: What will you miss the most?
Alex: The teachers and students.
CFM: How did Cloud & Fire prepare you for the future?
Alex: By teaching me leadership development; I'm going into the marines, and I will definitely need leadership.
CFM: Speaking of the future, what is your next step?
Alex: The United States Marines! I've done everything I need to do, and I'm just waiting until November or December, when I'll go to San Diego for three months of training. I'm excited, nervous, scared--everything.
CFM: What are your long-term goals?
Alex: After the Marines, probably do homeland security and retire from there.
CFM: Are you excited to graduate?
Alex: Yeah, it's something a lot of kids wish they could do.
CFM: Anything else you would like to add?
Alex: It's been a fun experience at Cloud & Fire!
