Tutoring Center Summer Programs

Hello! My name is Mario Galeano and I am the Interim Tutoring Center Coordinator at Cloud and Fire Ministries. I grew up here in the neighborhood, and am happy to be serving here.
At the moment we are in the midst of our Summer Program. The Cloud and Fire Tutoring Center is currently meeting on Mondays and Wednesday afternoons from 3:30-6:00. On Tuesdays we are going to the pool and on Thursdays we will be going on various field trips. The program will operate with this schedule through the end of August.
Our goal here at Cloud and Fire Ministries is to help students prepare to stay in school and graduate with a plan for their next step -- college, trade school, armed forces, etc. - and eventually move into the workforce. We also want to introduce God into their lives. Volunteering is a perfect way to show the love of God to these youth.
We are in the need of daily volunteers, not only in the tutoring center, but also on field trips. Many youth in this community are surrounded by too many negative influences and they need that positive balance that we can provide through Jesus Christ. There are many youth who need someone in their life to help them succeed. By joining Cloud and Fire Ministries, you’ll not only be enriching the lives of these youth, you will also be enriching your own lives. Last summer there were many students who came consistently to the program every week in the hope that they would eventually be paired with a tutor/mentor. YOU CAN BE THAT TUTOR OR MENTOR!
I hope you will join me this year at Cloud and Fire Ministries. We are especially looking for volunteers who can give one afternoon a week to help with after school tutoring between 4-6 p.m.
If you can't make a weekly commitment, you can still donate your skills by helping behind the scenes. I know the program needs volunteers who will support our technology department, help maintain web pages, write newsletters, or help organize events like our annual fundraiser. Not everyone can be a one-on-one volunteer, but almost anyone can help these kids connect with mentors and learning experiences in a tutor/mentor program.
