Although some of our programs have a secular goal, such as improving academic outcomes or providing job readiness skills, Cloud and Fire takes care to provide every participant with optional opportunities to grow spiritually and experience God’s love in tangible ways. Some of our activities are faith-based in nature, and help youth discover or strengthen their relationship with God.
Friday Night Church
Join us Friday nights for the Cloud and Fire Church Service! A visitor once noted that our unique, intimate service feels like coming home for a family reunion. Staff, alumni, participants, and volunteers join together to provide inspiring Biblical teaching, contemporary praise music, and Christian fellowship, and to share the exciting things God is doing in our lives and community. All ages are welcome, and students are provided rides from the Tutoring Center.
Co-Pastors Pride Metcalf and Melody Rossi facilitate the service at the YouthBuild Site in Van Nuys on Friday evenings from 5-9pm. Attendees have an opportunity to participate in recreational activities and share a meal prior to the service, which starts at 7pm.
Unlike most other churches, Friday Night Church began as an outreach to teens living in a tough neighborhood with nowhere to go after school. Much like a Good News Club or Young Life group, Cloud and Fire was a place where community was created and the gospel was shared. Many youth came to Christ, and then needed deeper Biblical training and discipleship. Today, those youth have grown up, and are now the leaders of Cloud and Fire’s Friday night worship service.
