Our Name
The term "Cloud and Fire" comes from the Old Testament account of the Exodus from Egypt. While the Hebrews were in the wilderness, God sent a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night to guide them on their journey. The Cloud and the Fire were tangible signs of God’s presence with the people, and showed them where to go — one day’s journey at a time.
As we work with at-risk urban youth, we need God’s leading every day. When we find ourselves in uncharted territory, we remember that God is with us and will guide us, just as He led the Hebrews out of the desert. Our name reminds us that as we seek God’s will, we can do amazing things!
